Object Agency Donates to “Faces in the Wild” Auction

by Jon Otis on September 26, 2010

The OlA studio recently completed a submission for the World Wildlife Fund/Humanscale benefit auction Faces in the Wild. Artists and designers were asked to create artwork that will be auctioned off with all the proceeds going towards the protection of endangered animals. Our objective was to create work that allows for literal and metaphorical interpretation dealing with the crisis of endangered species and the lack of recognition of the action needed to reverse these trends.

After Researching dozens of endangered species, we selected six whose unique skin, fur or shell textures allowed us to create a series of tactile and textured, blind debossed prints (white tone on tone) on a heavy card stock. All of the printing was done in-house and the cards were hand cut. The two wall hanging pieces donated for the online and live auctions were mounted on recycled aluminum panels backed with a raw poplar wood mount allowing the piece to ‘float’ off the wall. In addition we have taken the cards and packaged them into sets of six available for purchasing with all proceeds going to the WWF. Please see the photos and images (which were challenging to shoot) and contact us with comments or questions.

The auction is on November 18.  For more info check out the humanscale website at
